PROJECTS and ACTIVITIES:

Trivia Contest Fund Raiser:  Radio Station KCMA 98.5 FM Cool Mountain Radio sponsors a charity Trivia Contest every Friday, benefiting local charities.  Every Friday morning participants call in to answer trivia questions.  Cash is donated to that week’s charity based on the number of callers.  The Mazatzal Casino/Tonto Apache Tribe is the major underwriter for these cash awards.  Already this year the Casino/Tribe has funded more than $14,000 in awards!  Cool Mountain Radio contributes an additional 10%.  You can check out details of this program online at www.coolmountainradio.com.

The Friends of Payson Parks and Recreation, Inc. was the beneficiary charity on March 16th and raised more than $300 in the 30 minute show.  Many of our callers have gone on to participate regularly in the weekly program to support other local charities.  The efforts of the Tonto Apache Tribe and Cool Mountain Radio are to be commended for this program.

Community Chest Golf Tournament:  The Rim Golf Club and The Golf Club at Chaparral Pines have initiated a very successful fund raising event for the community of Payson.  In May of this year the first Community Chest Golf Tournament was held at The Rim Golf Club.  Six local charities solicited community members to participate in the tournament as either golfers or tee sponsors.  More than $20,000 was raised for those six local charities.  The Friends of Payson Parks and Recreation, Inc. will be one of the participating charities in the next tournament, to be held at The Golf Club at Chaparral Pines, on Saturday, November 10, 2007.  Each golfer pays $250 to enter the tournament; $200 of the fee goes directly to the charity who solicited that golfer’s participation.  The golf club retains the remaining $50 to cover green fees, cart fees, lunch for all participants and an elaborate after golf celebration at the club house.  It is also anticipated there will be a silent auction at the post-golf party to raise additional funds.  Each participant may bring a non-golfing guest to the party.  And additional guests may pay a small fee to participate.  So mark your calendars for a special day of golf --  tax-deductible and a great benefit to our organization  --  on Saturday, November 10th.  Contact Sharon Strople for entry forms and more information:  strople@gmail.com

Payson Area Trails System:   The Payson Area Trails System (PATS) will provide present and future generations of Rim Country residents and visitors with a safe, beautiful and interconnecting way to enjoy our community every day of the year.   Make the decision to be involved in this fantastic community project today!
