Since
it’s inception, the Friends of Payson Parks and
Recreation, Inc. has raised funds specifically
designated for a scholarship fund.
Many
children in this community simply cannot afford the
modest fees required to participate in the Town’s
recreation programs. The Friends group has provided
scholarships for this purpose and never fallen short
in meeting the need. This summer that need has
increased remarkably!
Board
members are currently conducting a word of mouth
campaign to solicit donations to be used only for
the scholarship fund. Consider making a donation
yourself – even modest donations may make the
difference for a child who otherwise cannot afford
to participate.
Current
costs include these examples: Youth Tumbling - $20;
Flag Football - $25; Girls Fast Pitch Softball --
$25; three-week sessions of the summer Recreation
Program (led by Certified Teachers) -- $40 per
session; two-week sessions of swim lessons - $25;
swim team membership -- $50.
Our
group has already awarded more than $1000 in
scholarships this year. In addition, every year for
the past three years the Friends of Payson Parks and
Recreation have purchased swim passes for Taylor
Pool and donated them to be used by children
assisted by The Time Out Shelter.
We can
guarantee that your donation specifically labeled
for the Scholarship Fund will be directly applied to
that purpose, without any administrative costs.
